5 Things You Need to Keep for Spring

As the winter sales begin to end, I might as well tell you what you will be able to wear next season, and bring it through in an economy where we can’t always buy things brand new every season.

1.  The Peter Pan Collar - Something sixties is resonating with the Peter Pan collar, and it’s a very fetching style to have.  I keep seeing Alexa Chung in those awful “wear a denim overall romper piece of shit with a Peter Pan collar blouse,” and I think she looks pretty good, so I’d go ahead and keep it.  Pictured:  The Fanning Sisters in a lovely Peter Pan Collar.

2.  Tuxedo-inspired layering pieces - whether it be your favorite Tuxedo Blazer in a shiny silk, or a simple cumberbund-infused vest, menswear will continue to be a trend to see in the next few seasons, as women suit up against the world.  Pictured: Balmain Strong Shoulder Tuxedo Blazer

3.  Cosmic costume - After recently splurging on a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Ninety Nines in Cosmic Blue, I found myself very attracted to the trend of printing galaxies and stars on to clothing.  Whether you keep that covetable cosmic Christopher Kane tee, or these galaxy-printed Jeffrey Campbell Litas in Cosmic (pictured), you’ll have a great edgy piece for that hip new bar or midnight rave within close reach.

4.  Structured handbags - Although every season has a new bag you need to pick up, you should be certain to work with what excellent bags you already have.  Right now the trend is a doctor’s bag look, something sizable with support.  But, if you have a briefcase-inspired or a strappy structured bag, you can rework the style to be yours. 5.  Fur vests - Okay, so normally I don’t like faux fur, but for the past few seasons, the faux fur vest has enjoyed a good run with the well dressed bohemian clans.  As I see it more and more on campus at FIT, I think a nice brown or ivory faux fur vest could go great on top of a floaty, sheer floral blouse during the seasonal transitional periods (when it’s just too cool outside to go braless, if you know what I mean).  Pictured: Original Natalie Faux Fur Vest by Sanctuary
